Koto is an African species known for its very light color and understated appearance. Its color generally ranges from pale beige to creamy yellow tones, allowing it to bring significant brightness to surfaces. Koto veneer is often used when a light and discreet wood is desired, one that can easily integrate into various interior styles.

Native mainly to West and Central Africa, koto has long been appreciated in the decorative veneer industry for its availability and versatility. Although it is not listed in the CITES appendices, the species is classified as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List due to a decline in its population linked to harvesting and the reduction of its natural habitat. In veneer form, it nonetheless allows the creation of light and balanced panels suitable for both furniture and contemporary interior applications.
